Become A BiG Citizen

Brookwood in Georgetown serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (Citizens) who are desiring to be a part of a community designed especially for them.

BiG currently operates three campuses that provide meaningful jobs and fulfilling daytime opportunities for our Citizens. The central location is at 905 N. Church Street in Georgetown, Texas. Our program has also expanded to satellite church locations in Georgetown and Austin. Each site shares the philosophy, culture and administrative support of BiG.

We have also launched residential services at our central location.

**BiG currently only has active openings at our Austin campus. Applicants for our Georgetown locations will be put into a "waiting pool" for possible future openings.**

Brookwood in Georgetown was created for those who are no longer receiving federally mandated special education services. Therefore, we will accept applications beginning at age 20. To become a BiG Citizen, applicants must complete the following 5 steps:

Step 1 - TOUR

Take a glance at our innovative vocational program to better understand BiG culture and our goals as an organization. Tours are available every Wednesday at 10:15. Reservations are required- sign up on our tour page.

Step 2 - APPLY

After the tour, if you feel that your loved one might be a fit for BiG, we would welcome your application. All campuses are currently open. Click here to download our application.. There is a $100 non-refundable application fee; this does not guarantee placement at BiG.

After reviewing the application, BiG staff will be excited to meet with you. They will schedule an interview with the potential Citizen and their family.

An admissions committee will evaluate the information from the application and initial interview. Prospective Citizens will be invited to complete a volunteer day at their campus. This gives the individual an opportunity to “try out” BiG, and job supervisors the chance to evaluate the potential placement.

After the volunteer day, it will be determined if BiG is a good fit for the applicant. If so, congratulations! Welcome to the BiG family!

Each of these enterprises will provide a social entrepreneurial atmosphere and challenge the Citizens, while simultaneously giving them valuable work experience and a sense of purpose and belonging.

BiG Citizens are currently involved in the following creative enterprises:

BiG Citizens engage in handcrafting pottery.

BiG Citizens create cards and banners for various occasions.

BiG Citizens engrave custom designs on wood, glass, stone, leather, and stainless steel.

4 - CAFE
